Deep Underground Notts: A Night of Local DJ Talent and Grammy-Winning Sounds
Nottingham is about to experience another unforgettable night of deep, melodic house as “Deep Underground Notts” returns on September 28th. Known for curating cutting-edge musical experiences in the city's remarkable cave venue, this edition promises to raise the bar with a special blend of rising local stars across Nottingham and the Midlands alongside world-class talent.
Highlighting Nottingham's own DJ scene, the event will feature performances by some of the most exciting local talents. Attendees can expect the hypnotic beats of Naws, Tris, and Ian Bircher, all of whom have made waves in the melodic house scene. From building Deep Underground Notts last summer, Naws and Tris have worked hard, forging a local community for a global sound, showing why Nottingham is a city to watch for dance music innovation at the grassroots level. Local DJ Ian Bircher has also played a pivotal role, founding his Sherwood-based series “Infinite Beats,” Nottingham’s first event dedicated to Progressive House.
A stone's throw down the M5 to Birmingham, Paris Camille has striven to elevate the melodic scene in the Midlands with her own brand, “Altered Events.” Paris’s successes have seen her catapult to recent support slots for Simon Doty, Stereoclip, and My Friend, as well as making her debuts this year in London and Manchester. A supremely talented melodic techno DJ, Paris brings an exciting and unique energy to the lineup. Expect a vibrant and energetic set to prepare the cave crowd for two Anjunadeep heavyweights.
But the night doesn’t stop there. Making his much-anticipated headline debut in the caves is Anjunadeep fan-favourite, and Midlands-based talent, “Boxer.” Fresh off the success of his hit "Troubled Heart" with Dosem, and a recent EP on Anjunadeep’s new sublabel, Reflections, Boxer’s charisma, charm, and stage presence are perfect for such an intimate venue and promise a memorable performance. His upcoming set is sure to deliver the energy and depth to perfectly complement the cave venue.
Additionally, topping the bill is none other than “Steven Weston,” a Grammy-winning sound engineer, artist, and producer with UNKLE, who has released with the likes of Anjunadeep, Bedrock, and Sasha's revered label “Last Night On Earth.” Weston’s involvement guarantees an elevated experience, combining local talent with international prowess.
The unsung hero of this event is the breathtaking cave venue. Situated below the Whistle and Flute on Derby Road, the cave has become a unique party destination, platforming local talent across all genres. With Deep Underground Notts, the cave has welcomed the likes of Colorize’s MXV and LAR over the past 12 months but is rapidly beginning to showcase a wider variety of genres that truly reflect the diversity at Nottingham’s grassroots scene.
The Whistle & Flute has seen standout sets from Peterborough’s breakthrough house star Micah Baxter, and “What You Saying?”—a party famed for showcasing Nottingham’s darker and heavier sounds, featuring the Nottingham underground icon, “anotherplace.”
Get ready for an immersive night of deep beats, rhythmic melodies, and a celebration of Nottingham's thriving house scene.
