Ten Hands High
So these are a favourite of NottsRocks, we won’t lie. You probably heard their tracks behind a load of social media posts, but meh, everyone has favourites, ask your parents.
Based in London, made at Leeds uni, Ten Hands High have crafted an indie sound that revolves around groove & atmosphere and draws on rnb, neo-soul and funk influences.
First arriving onto the scene in 2019's 'Phase 1', Ten Hands High quickly began to enrich their classic indie rock roots with a wider melting pot of genres. 5 years on and with credits including BBC Radio 1, 6 Music and Radio X, as well as Spotify and Amazon Editorials under their belt, their music has now arrived at Vibe Central Station.
'Phase 5' last year saw the band's monthly listeners quadruple, releasing 5 singles that have achieved radio play on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and Radio X, as well as their first national TV spots on Made In Chelsea and This Morning. The final single of Phase 5 - Right Hand Man saw the band tackle the issue of men's mental health with a Movember fundraising campaign alongside it, and was added to Fresh Finds UK & IE and Hot New Bands.
2024's 'Phase 6' has continued the band's rise, Butterflies at Night earned the band a BBC Introducing Sussex Live Lounge session, Happiness by Design spent 7 weeks on Fresh Finds UK & IE, and Honey Dynamite was added the BBC Introducing's Orbit Discovery platform, along with many other credits.
Live, the band have sold out iconic venues like Omeara and 100 Club in London and have played classic indie festivals like Y Not and 110 Above. In September 2024 they played their biggest headline shows to date at London's Lafayette and Leeds' HPBC.
Their latest release ‘Honey Dynamite’ is out now, and we like it.
They play Live At Leeds In The City on the 16th Nov and Rough Trade Nottingham on the 23rd November.
