The Town Creating A Sonic Boom

Sonic Boom Festival 2024 is set to make its own sonic boom across the region when it takes over Burton upon Trent on Saturday, 14th September.

We’re really excited about it, but before we get into all that, here’s a bit of blurb on the town itself.

Burton is a market town in East Staffordshire, England, with a population of 76,270 and a thriving pub scene, supported by its rich brewing heritage with breweries like Tower Brewery and Coors Brewers Ltd. It also has over 160+ pubs, bars, and restaurants dotted round the town and surrounding area.

It also has a colourful music history—back in the day, the famous 76 Club hosted rock legends like The Sex Pistols, AC/DC, and Thin Lizzy. Fast forward to today, and local band The 76 Club pays homage to this legacy, they’ve just dropped their latest single, Ava. Give them a follow and a listen.

So, what can you expect at Sonic Boom?

With loads of bands and artists playing, this festival is set to deliver a sensory and auditory assault of the pleasurable kind. You’ll find a Main Stage, which is free to attend, and several Aftershock parties—extra gigs at various venues around town, some of these are ticketed so check them out.

Here’s a rundown:

• Main Stage: The K's, Nubiyan Twist, Deco, Divorce, Girlband!, Eighty Eight Miles, The Public Eye (FREE)

• Harmless Market: VIP Aftershock with Jemma Johnson and Charlotte Bettson, with a surprise all-vinyl DJ (we wonder who that could be! - Invite only)

• St Paul’s Church: Robert Vincent supported by Craig Gould.

• Burton’s Tower Brewery: Andy Crowe & The Eisen Family, The Ritz, Electric Pets.

• Bar XV: Burton Bass Live – drum & bass and jungle night.

• Calm Yoga Studio: Pick n Mix Silent Disco returns!

• Burton Caribbean Association: Dance to reggae, soca, and ska with The Sakatella Band and DJ Chaka Finchos.

• The Olde Royal Oak: Live music with Tealdeer, Honor, and Slumclub (FREE)

• Leopard Inn: Multi-instrumentalist Scrump doing what he does best (FREE)

• Brews of the World: Acoustic sets from Maxwell Avenue, Emzae, and Myopia (FREE)

Burton knows how to throw a party, and with plenty of pubs around, there’s no reason to drink your can of Skol on a street corner. Get into the festival spirit and spend a bit of money supporting the local businesses—you'll find a mix of bars and eateries to keep you going all day long.

So our people, clear your diaries, add it to your calendar, and rally your friends and family—Sonic Boom Festival 2024 is going to be a day to remember. We’ve asked the universe for sunshine, so it’s guaranteed, don’t mention it.

As for what we’re looking forward to? All of it! If we could clone ourselves, we’d hit up every Aftershock party. But since we can't, we'll attend one and keep our eyes and ears on the others. Burton, it’s time to party (cue rock fist because we’re cool).
